BIG BANG BOOM!!!

Ok, well we haven’t been sucked into a black hole, so at least science hasn’t killed us all as of yet in the search for answers to the origins of life.  But is this not the biggest bunch of boocrap billing for billions of bucks?  I mean ten billion dollars just to prove and better understand the “Big Bang” Theory?  And, to top it off, at the risk of possibly annihilating life on Earth in the process?  Granted it was only an extremely slim chance and life is about taking risks, but how great of a price is that chance?  Destroying life on Earth in an attempt to understand how it began?

There’s a book in my car right now that I am taking with me to Atlanta for the rest of the week that clearly tells how the world began and it’s called the Bible.  Now I’m not going to start preaching or Bible-thumping here, but, even if you don’t believe in God, this whole overpriced, glorified science project is downright ludicrous!  Isn’t there something better we could do with ten billion dollars than try to play God at the potential expense of the entire human race?  If this were a comic book, wouldn’t these European scientists be the diabolical villains?  For some odd reason I’m thinking of Doc Ock’s little pet project in Spider-Man 2 - just on a much grander scale!  I don’t even think Oscorp could cough up ten billion big ones for the science fair!

Oh how I agree with you. I was thinking the same extact thing! IF this were to hahppen it would happen during the tribulation that the Bible speaks of. Who knows. (?) Besides the scientist claim they can they can stop this be turning off the magnets in the tunells they will be using the
    excellarator. Stupid heads!

I agree that the big bang thing is retarded, but at the same time I don’t think that this project is because it should expand our understanding of the universe that much more. We aren’t going to be sucked into a giant black hole because the black holes it will create are at a sub-atomic level. The rays from the sun hitting the earth are much more powerful than the LHC. It is a joke compared to most things coming the earth’s way. Also, it isn’t just a bunch of European scientists, there are 12 nations in on it together - including America. The early days of CERN was the Manhattan Project and the internet is a product of them simply figuring out how to keep in touch with one another. If Stephen Hawking says the project is completely safe then I am ok with it. If it does happen to kill everyone you can be the first to find out here…

Sorry, but I disagree. There is a lot more than discovering the origin of life at stake here. Look at what has happened in the past hundred or so years, we went from horses to cars, then airplanes. We are advancing at an incredible rate, and what better way to continue advancement than to know its beginning. Plus, this is the biggest debate of all time is it not? Did the Big Bang happen, or was there a God? Of course, proving the big bang wont satisfy the religious, they will claim that it was gods will, and dont mention evolutionto them, they will deny that faster than a emo kid cuts himself. Evolution, adaptation, similarities that they deny ostentaciously, like the frogs that were discovered in India that had evolved to absorb oxygen through their skin, what did the religious say, it was a mutation, an abomination. No matter what experiments we as humans employ, there will always be that same debate, and no side is winning.
